Costco members clamoring over limited new bakery addition

One of the things that makes Costco such a unique place to shop is its ever-changing inventory.

Although Costco's inventory is fairly limited compared to big box grocers and traditional supermarkets, the warehouse club giant does a great job of keeping things fresh. Costco knows that members enjoy the "treasure hunt" aspect of wandering through its huge stores in search of new finds.

Of course, the challenge is that Costco has very high standards when it comes to the products it carries.

Costco will not sell an item unless it's happy with the price point and confident that it's coming in at a price below that of competitors.

Costco also maintains very high standards for quality. It won't stock products it feels customers are likely to return — though when that does happen, Costco will take almost anything back without a hassle.

Costco's bakery is a major draw for members

Consumers flock to Costco for ongoing savings on grocery staples and household essentials. But the store's famous bakery section is another big draw.

Many Costco bakery items are produced daily from scratch, which means that when members hit up that section of the store, they're getting the freshest selection possible.

Costco's bakery also has a reputation for producing tasty items at competitive prices. The store's massive sheet cakes are popular for large events. And Costco's famous muffins and croissants are also big sellers because they’re both inexpensive and delicious.

Just as Costco likes to introduce new products throughout its stores, it tries to update its bakery section with new and seasonal items.

The bakery's pumpkin streusel muffins are a favorite during fall. And Costco recently introduced a strawberry streusel cheesecake that practically screams spring.

Costco's latest bakery find has members scrambling to find it

It's easy enough to emerge from Costco's bakery section with a shopping cart full of sugary treats. But Costco's fresh-baked bread products are a favorite among fans, too.

Now, there's a new addition to Costco's bakery lineup that fans are itching to try.

The item in question is pita bread. And this is not boring old grocery-store pita bread in a package.

Costco's pita bread is soft, fluffy, and downright delicious, according to initial customer reviews. And what makes Costco’s version stand out is its ability to hold a large amount of fillings without collapsing or losing its texture.

There’s nothing more frustrating than filling a pita with meat, cheese, or vegetables, only to have it fall apart. Costco seems to have cracked the code, and fans are extremely grateful.

“I’ve hoped for so long for a pita bread in the Costco bakery,” @costcohotfinds wrote on Instagram. "It’s so soft, doughy, and perfect!"

“Oh my gosh YUMMM,” another added.

Costco is selling its new pita bread in packs of nine for $6.99 (though prices may vary by store location). And some members were happy to see that they're not made with any artificial preservatives.

More Retail:

The only problem is that this amazing new pita bread only seems to be available in select Costco locations so far.

But if the product sells well, there's a good chance Costco will not only bring it to more locations, but consider making it a permanent bakery item. Until then, you may want to scoop it up while you can.
