PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore is known as Singapore’s first Garden-in-a-Hotel and it is an honour this luxury property in the central business district and Marina Bay takes much pride in. It’s a fitting title that well represents its position as one of the best green hotels in Singapore.
A champion of sustainability and a leader in efforts to minimise the hospitality industry’s environmental impact, the 583-room hotel’s iconic design incorporates numerous methods of environmental responsibility and green innovations.
This ranges from solar panels producing renewable energy to power guest lifts and emergency lights, to a filtered water system in guest rooms eliminating the need for plastic bottles, to intelligent lighting and cooling that saves on energy, to a rooftop farm growing over 60 varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs that exemplifies the hotel’s farm-to-table, farm-to-bar and farm-to-spa concepts.
A member of the PARKROYAL COLLECTION, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore is a sustainability-minded sanctuary within the bustling urban landscape where guests can indulge in world-class luxury, while taking heart in the knowledge they are enjoying an experience that cares for the environment. A wonderful hotel experience that integrates eco-friendly practices in a holistic approach encompassing energy, water, waste and carbon management – from the delightful guestrooms to the award-winning dining destinations. Guests can indulge in modern Chinese restaurant Peach Blossoms (Level 5), farm-to-table buffet restaurant Peppermint offering rotating international cuisines and regionally-sourced produce (Level 4), innovative cocktails and afternoon tea at Portman’s Bar (Level 4), and poolside bites and beverages at Skyline Bar (Level 5).
At PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore, guests also have the option to curate personalised experiences that go beyond the ordinary, transforming each stay into an inspiring journey that connects guests with the vibrant heart of Singapore and the hotel’s sustainability spirit.
From educational harvesting workshops at the Urban Farm to curated bicycle routes that travel around sunny Singapore, memorable moments are designed to enrich guests’ stay in the heart of Marina Bay.
A Veritable Garden Of Goodness
As Singapore’s first Garden-in-a-Hotel, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore is home to Southeast Asia’s largest indoor sky-lit atrium, featuring over 2,400 plants, trees, shrubs and groundcovers from more than 60 varieties of flora spread across 1,400 square metres. These were specifically handpicked to help with the hotel’s food supply resilience and their suitability to indoor conditions, and the minimal care needed.
Guests are treated to the impression of a daytime forest, one that is both attractive and beneficial and which acts as a natural purifier to improve air quality. While helping the foliage, energy-efficient grow lights also add to the wonderful ambience of the atrium.
Intelligently-designed Rooms And Suites
Another key element making PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore among the leading eco-friendly hotels in Singapore is the environmental care and thoughtful water and energy management in its rooms and suites.
All guestrooms have motion sensors installed, enabling intelligent temperature control and efficient energy use. Refillable pump bottles from Appelles replace miniature bath amenities.
The hotel’s in-room water filtration system has done away with the need for bottled water – and thus reducing the environmental impact of their production, storage and waste processing. Biodegradable alternatives are used in place of straws, containers, cups, water bottles, stirrers, carrier bags, cutlery, lids and plates used for takeaways. And there are over 580 recycle bins throughout the hotel in all guestrooms, and public and back-of-house areas.
Farm-to-Table, Farm-to-Bar, Farm-to-Spa
Green is not only good, it’s essential when it comes to being regarded as one of the best eco-friendly hotels in Singapore. Having a homegrown food supply that boosts food supply resilience and cuts out the environmental impact of otherwise necessary transportation goes a long way toward this. Spread across 150 square metres of the hotel’s rooftop, the Urban Farm grows delectable, fresh produce for the all day-dining Peppermint restaurant and Portman’s Bar, Skyline Bar and St. Gregory spa.
The Urban Farm’s output enables Peppermint, for example, to serve delicious salads made from the freshest greens harvested daily, along with dishes that are plant-based meatless – such as meat-free meatballs and guilt-free burgers.
For its outside sourcing, the hotel supports vendors that practice a sustainability methodology in food sourcing, and practices responsible procurement of seafood.
Thoughtful Energy And Water Management
Many elements of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore’s operations are designed to save on energy and water use. On the rooftop are installed 210 solar panels that generate approximately 350 kWh of renewable energy daily.
In guestrooms, the motion sensors installed enable intelligent temperature control and efficient energy use. When guests are not in their room, these sensors power down lights and air-conditioning.
Not to be left out of the efficiency equation, the magnificent swimming pool comes alive at dusk with 1,380 glowing fibre optic lights that create the sensation of almost floating among the stars. And these are fibre optic lights that consume less energy a year, significantly less than the energy used by standard swimming pool lights.
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore’s own district cooling plant provides chilled water not only to the hotel itself but three nearby buildings as well. The hotel can thus better regulate its water consumption by using only what it needs. Additional energy consumption, water consumption, maintenance, manpower requirements, technical complexity and costs are eliminated.
Then there’s the rainwater harvesting system utilised by the Urban Farm. The water collected on rainy days is used to water the farm’s plants.
In the indoor atrium, the double-glazed glass and low-emissivity of the skylight welcomes in natural daylight while rejecting heat. Less heat means less air-conditioning needed to cool down the indoor space.
With its recent attainment of the BCA Green Mark Super Low Energy (SLE) Certification, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore celebrated a trifecta of sustainability accomplishments – BCA Green Mark Super Low Energy (SLE) Certification, Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Industry Criteria for Hotels Certification and Green Globe Certification.
BCA Green Mark Super Low Energy (SLE) Certification
In December 2024, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore was awarded the BCA Green Mark Super Low Energy (SLE) Certification, under the Green Mark 2021 In Operation scheme. This accolade recognises the hotel’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovative energy practices.

It provides a comprehensive framework for assessing the environmental performance of new and existing buildings, with the aim of promoting sustainable design and best practices in construction and operations.
The Super Low Energy (SLE) Certification honours buildings that achieve at least 60% energy savings through energy-efficient measures and on-site renewable energy generation, surpassing the Gold Plus (50%) and Platinum (55%) energy savings thresholds. By doing so, it highlights exemplary efforts to adopt innovative energy-saving technologies and renewable energy solutions on property.
