Carnival cruise rep speaks out after huge cruise terminal fight

Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald answers hundreds of cruise passenger questions every day on his popular Facebook page that’s followed by more than 600,000 people.

So naturally, when a negative incident like a cruise passenger fight goes viral on social media, Heald is bombarded with questions from concerned cruisers.

“There was a brawl at the Galveston cruise terminal at debarkation over the weekend. There were many posts all over social media showing the altercation. Later in the day, someone posted that Carnival had banned 24 people from ever sailing again on Carnival. Can you confirm if this is true?” Peggy Cloud asked the brand ambassador.

The question stemmed from social media posts about a massive fight that broke out as passengers were disembarking from Carnival Jubilee in a Port of Galveston cruise terminal on April 26.

Carnival brand ambassador says banning people who fight is a good thing

Heald assured the concerned cruisers who wrote to him about the Galveston cruise passenger brawl that the cruise line takes physical altercations very seriously.

“I can tell you that anybody involved in physical altercations will never be cruising with us ever, ever again and that is a good thing,” he said.

In a post on his Facebook page, Heald addressed the situation, sharing his personal opinion.

“This is my opinion only which, after being part of the best cruise line in the world for almost 40 years, well, I think I am allowed the chance to give,” he clarified.

Heald pointed out that although physical fights can be shocking to watch, it’s not uncommon to see them happen these days in public places where large amounts of people gather.

“I'm guessing that, like me, you're not terribly surprised to see the behaviour of people these days, but I bet you're not astonished. We have watched for the past few years on land at theme parks and shopping malls and on our ships and on other cruise lines people demonstrating all the etiquette of a pack of starving hyenas,” Heald explained.

Carnival is committed to promoting fun, and won’t tolerate fights

Heald confirmed that, like the 24 passengers who were involved in the Galveston cruise terminal fight, people who get into physical altercations on Carnival’s cruise ships or in its cruise terminals will be banned from sailing on Carnival Cruise Line ever again.

“So many of you wrote to me about an incident in the terminal building at the Port of Galveston involving a group of despicable, deplorable people. The people involved will, like anyone who is involved in any physical altercation with other guests, or our crew, never, ever be allowed to cruise with us again,” Heald promised.

Carnival is committed to maintaining a fun, friendly, and respectful atmosphere aboard its ships.

“Right now, there are many thousands of people having fun on our ships. And 99.9% of those guests are wonderful, fun-seeking people, just like you. We have the strongest bookings in the industry, I am told, [and] we certainly have the best guests and the best crew who will continue to make sure you have the best of times,” Heald assured his followers.

After addressing the altercation, Heald noted that he won’t be answering any more questions on the subject and closed the post to comments.
