Carnival Cruise Line vows to help with common bathroom problem

Cruise ship cabin bathrooms can feel pretty cramped. They’re generally smaller than the average hotel room bathroom, but are usually efficiently designed to make the most of the limited space.

Although it can be uncomfortable to get ready in the confined cabin quarters, most cruise passengers just accept it as a normal part of cruising.

When it comes to showering on a Carnival cruise ship, tight space may not be the only miniature-sized issue passengers have to deal with, however.

One Carnival cruise passenger recently raised a small shower issue that many passengers deal with in a message to Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald, who responds to a broad range of passenger questions and concerns on his popular Facebook page.

Carnival brand ambassador zeroes in on shower squinting struggle

“Thank you Carnival for making sure we have to wear our glasses in the shower by putting the shower gel and shampoo in identical bottles and with writing in a size 4 font. Stupidity personified John,” the unidentified passenger wrote.

“I think they are different colours, surely that helps,” Heald pointed out about the bottles as he shared the passenger’s message in a post on his Facebook page.

In the comments on the post, other Carnival cruisers agreed that the font size is small, but most handle the issue by looking at the bottles with their glasses on before beginning their showers. To most passengers, the small font size isn’t something anyone should get worked up over.

“I look at the containers before getting into the shower, then simply remember how they're set up,” Trish Dycus explained. “It's not that hard, but I guess that's because I like to use my own brain instead of demanding that someone else does my thinking for me.”

Nevertheless, Carnival’s ever-attentive brand ambassador assured passengers that he would raise the issue to his colleagues, which many passengers appreciated.

“As a few other people have said, the font size is too small, despite the shampoo and shower gel on most of the ships being a different [color]. I am going to see if we can get the font size increased on the labeling. Hopefully this will help others as well. Cheers,” Heald commented.

Carnival brand ambassador takes on a slippery issue too

While discussing shower topics on his Facebook page, Heald also pledged to help another passenger with an urgent bathroom request.

“I am traveling next week on Vista with my mom and read a couple of reviews that the shower is [slippery] - does Carnival not supply non-slip shower mats or is this proof again that they are not on par with ------ Line,” the unidentified passenger wrote. “I am a concerned daughter and my mom needs a non-slip surface. Are we expected to take our own or what?”

In his Facebook post, Heald promised to ask Carnival crew members to help the concerned daughter and her mom, but he noted that he couldn’t remember whether Carnival cruise ship bathrooms had shower mats. He asked passengers to share their experiences in the comments on the post.

More Carnival cruise news:

“I will of course ask my colleagues to help this lady and her Mum but can I ask, did you have a shower mat? Do you put a towel down or has this never been a concern for you?”

According to most passengers who commented on the post, Carnival cruise ship cabin showers don’t have shower mats but they haven’t noticed a need for them. A towel floor mat is provided for passengers to use as they get out the shower, however.

For some passengers, the only actual issue may be the small size of the shower, which may not even have enough space for someone to slip anyway.

“I've never had a problem with the shower being slippery. To be honest, I don't think there's enough room in there for you to slip,” Kevin Ernst wrote.
