States were ranked based on the number of foreclosure starts filed in December 2024 as a fraction of the total number of housing units statewide. Supplemental data on median home value, median household income, median monthly housing costs, and median annual real estate taxes paid for housing units with a mortgage are from the U.S. Census Bureau.
