talkSPORT betting tips – best darts bets and expert advice for the Premier League Night 1
A new season of Premier League Darts gets underway on Thursday and the Belfast crowd are sure to serve up a cracking atmosphere. There is change in the air this term, with mainstays of the competition Michael Smith and Peter Wright being replaced by Chris Dobey and Stephen Bunting, but big-hitters Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen remain in the field. The format is unchanged from the eight-player knockout bracket each night and we have a section for each of the Belfast quarter-finals. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £30 in free bets Premier League Darts – Night 1 Tips TIP 1 – Gerwyn Price to beat Chris Dobey @ 4/6 No arrowsmith won more than the three Players Championship titles Chris Dobey collected last season and Hollywood also enjoyed a run to the semi-finals of World Championship at the turn of the year. However, 2025 is yet to provide the Bedlington boy with any success and performances levels have dropped considerably. Dobey was battered 6-0 by Stephen Bunting in the season-opening Bahrain Masters, while a 6-5 loss to Raymond van Barneveld followed in the first round of the Dutch Darts Masters. Last week’s World Masters saw Hollywood lose his first-round tie with Ryan Searle. Clearly, those are a trio of difficult matches, but averages of 84.62, 94.34 and 91.83 indicate Dobey was way below his best. Gerwyn Price is working back towards his brilliant best and the Iceman can get his Premier League campaign off to a winning start. TIP 2 – Rob Cross to beat Stephen Bunting @ 6/5 Bunting has forced his way back into the Premier League, but it may not be a happy return for the Bullet when he takes on Rob Cross. The St Helen’s men enjoyed a major breakthrough when winning the World Masters last year, but the Bullet spoke of his nerves when defending his title in Milton Keynes last week. Bunting returns to the Premier League on a full-time basis for the first time since 2015 and a little apprehension looks likely in Belfast. That aside, Cross kicked off the season by winning the Dutch Darts Masters and, at 6/5, Voltage looks like the best bet on the card. TIP 3 – Over 7.5 180s in Luke Littler v Michael van Gerwen @ 11/10 Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen meet in a repeat of the World Championship final and the duo can serve up a treat. Littler is the brightest star in darts and The Nuke will be out to mount a successful defence of his Premier League title. Van Gerwen appears to be closing in on his peak form and there has been a lot to like about MVG’s recent performances. There were 10 maximums hit in nine legs when their pair met in the Dutch Darts Masters last month and another 180 extravaganza looks likely. TIP 4 – Luke Humphries to win 6-0 v Nathan Aspinall @ 16/1 Nathan Aspinall’s struggles have been well documented and The Asp could be in for a tough night against 2024 world champion Luke Humphries. Cool Hand Luke took down the World Masters title last weekend, the Newbury arrowsmith is an elite-level performer and he is more than capable of running away with this tie. A small play on Humphries to win 6-0 at 16/1 could be the way to play the lasy quarter-final of the evening. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £30 in free bets Odds correct at time of writing and subject to change 18+ New Customers Only.
