Disney’s high-profile live-action reboot of the 1937 animated classic “Snow White,” starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, has appeared on long-range tracking forecasts.
Quorum (via Deadline) is reporting that the Marc Webb-directed film is headed for a three-day start of $63-70 million domestically with $65 million being the best guess at this point.
That’s about on par with the “Sleeping Beauty” live-action spinoff “Maleficent” which debuted in 2014 to $69.4 million, and will easily beat the previous best opening for a film with Zegler – her prior record being “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”.
Awareness is reportedly strong among women, young women in particular who are the most likely to turn out for the film, followed by older women and younger men. On YouTube alone, the film’s trailer has pulled in 141 million views so far.
Compared to other Disney live-action features, it’s not even close to the opening weekend records set by the likes of 2019’s “The Lion King” at $192M and 2017’s “Beauty and the Beast” at $175M.
Disney’s “Captain America: Brave New World” will have the first big opening of the year next Friday with that film tracking for an $85+ million debut.
