The Ottawa Senators will have to stay afloat without Shane Pinto for at least one more game.
The 24-year-old will miss his second consecutive game after exiting early in a loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday due to an upper-body injury, the team announced.
Pinto took an awkward hit by defenceman Nick Perbix as he went in on the forecheck in the first period of that loss and did not return for the second before he was ultimately ruled out. He did skate off on his own accord but appeared to be in discomfort.
Pinto left the contest with just under three minutes of ice time. He’s currently listed as day-to-day.
His absence has been felt by the Senators, as they’ve lost two games in a row now — both to the Lightning: 4-3 on Tuesday and 5-1 on Thursday.
The skid comes after Ottawa had won five games in a row just before that, with Pinto racking up seven points in that span and registering at least one in each contest. Through 45 appearances this year, the centre has logged 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points.

He ranks in the top 10 on the Sens’ roster for goals, assists and points this season. Pinto ranks third for short-handed goals, and his five game-winning goals are tied for first.
