Turkish Airlines has been steadily improving and expanding its lounge network and the most recent addition just opened at Tokyo-Narita Airport, Terminal 1 this week.

Turkish Airlines customers, Star Alliance Business/First Class passengers & of course Star Alliance Gold customers on an eligible flight.

Most of the foreign TK Lounges have signed up for the Priority Pass system sometime after opening so it will be interesting to see if the Narita lounge will follow suit and will also be accessible with PP in the near future.

Here is a terminal map that shows the location of the new Turkish Airlines lounge:

Being located in the satellite building complex this doesn’t make it very useful for a quick hop over just to chill at the lounge for a couple of minutes. While I know some people who get a kick out of jumping all over the airport just to visit an extra lounge, to me less is more and I won’t add extra stress to my travel day for something like this.

The lounge is located in Terminal 1 South Wing, Satellite 4, Gate 47.

The doors opened officially on Wednesday, February 5th:

This is rather special after many lounges, including ANA’s second lounge area in the extended concourse where many Star Alliance aircraft depart, shut down during the pandemic, and never reopened. Now the United Club is the only option on the way over there or to make a detour to ANA at the far end of the terminal just to trek the entire way back afterwards.

According to Vanguard News the facility is rather stunning:

This first phase comfortably accommodates up to 105 guests and operates daily from 7:30 AM to 9:45 PM.

Access is extended to Miles&Smiles Elite Plus and Elite cardholders, Miles&Smiles Elite Corporate cardholders, Star Alliance Gold members, and Business and First Class passengers traveling with Star Alliance member airlines.

At the opening ceremony, Turkish Airlines VP of Sales Far East & Oceania, Ümit Develi, remarked, “We are glad to open our largest overseas lounge at Tokyo’s Narita Airport, offering our guests a space that harmonizes Turkish hospitality with Japanese elegance, symbolizing over a century of close relations between our nations.

Turkish Airlines Lounge at Narita International Airport reflects our dedication to enhancing the travel experience and further strengthening our presence in the Asia-Pacific region.”

President & CEO of Narita International Airport Corporation, Mr. Akihiko Tamura, also praised the initiative, stating,

“We sincerely appreciate the establishment of the lounge at Narita Airport. Turkish Airlines has greatly contributed to the expansion of Narita Airport’s network, and we are truly honored that you have chosen Narita Airport as the location for your second lounge in Asia.

With Turkish Airlines’ world-class route network connecting the entire globe, the opening of your lounge will enable us to provide even greater value to our passengers. We wish Turkish Airlines continued success and look forward to further enhancing Narita Airport’s capabilities while growing together in partnership.” …

Guests are treated to a buffet-style selection featuring Turkish, Japanese, and Far Eastern cuisines. A standout offering is the Turkish pide oven—unique among lounges outside Istanbul—that serves freshly baked pide during lunch and dinner.

Additional amenities include dedicated relaxation areas, daybeds with views of the apron, a VIP room for added privacy, shower rooms, accessible restrooms, and a baby care room to ensure comprehensive passenger needs are met. …

Some signature features, including the Pide oven, are also included and will certainly be welcome.

The renderings provided by Turkish Airlines look quite nice as well:

I checked the Priority Pass website, but so far, there is no mention of the TK Lounge. Interestingly the ANA Lounge has also disappeared from the list of available lounges.

Conclusion

On Wednesday, a new lounge opened up at Tokyo’s Narita Airport as Turkish Airlines unveiled their most recent international airport club facility.

This new lounge in Tokyo is just its seventh outside of Turkey and the second in Asia, adding to their international portfolio in Bangkok, Miami, Moscow, Nairobi, New York as well as Washington-Dulles Airport.

The location is in satellite building number four at NRT Terminal 1. It’s probably not a spot where you’d randomly go or pass by, but this will probably save the club from many lounge hoppers.
