And with Sandler reprising his role as the titular unprofessional hockey player-turned-golf star, there is set to be plenty of influence from the sport’s leading names this time around. A newly-released teaser shared by streaming giants Netflix has given a glimpse into the host of top golfers who will join the cast. Those revealed PGA stars Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Colin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris, as well as LIV Golf’s Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. Alongside a short video shared on X, Netflix wrote: “The field for Happy Gilmore 2 is stacked. “Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Will Zalatoris and more.” In the footage, the professional golfers can be seen alongside Sandler and co-star Christopher McDonald, who plays Shooter McGavin, on set for the filming of the sequel to the 90s classic. The tour stars all look to be in good spirits as they are shown laughing and joking with members of the original cast. And the excitement on set is clearly mutual, as actor Ben Stiller, who plays Hal, enthuses to two-time US PGA champion Thomas over his love for the Netflix docu-series ‘Full Swing’. Stiller tells him: “I started watching Full Swing, it’s great. It’s really well done.” While there is no confirmed release date for the upcoming movie, Sandler told the Dan Patrick Show that it could be ready to stream in July after filming wrapped up in December. And while McIlroy and co will no doubt be eager to catch themselves on the big screen for the iconic film’s huge comeback, in the meantime they will be focused on their busy sporting schedules. Star of the original movie Ben Stiller was captured gushing to Justin Thomas on set After the Northern Irishman’s recent victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California, he is now preparing to face off against his co-star Scheffler at the WM Phoenix Open, which tees off today.
