Highly-rated Red Bull protégé Arvid Lindblad has taken a massive step toward his Formula 1 dream, clinching the Formula Regional Oceania Championship on Saturday in New Zealand.
The 17-year-old Briton’s title triumph not only cements his reputation as one of motorsport’s rising stars but also earns him enough points to qualify for an F1 Super Licence – a mandatory requirement for competing in Formula 1.
Lindblad needed just a second-place finish in the opening race of the final round at Highlands Motorsport Park to seal the championship.
While he couldn’t challenge race winner Patrick Heuzenroeder, his P2 finish was enough to wrap up the title with two races to spare.
“It wasn’t the easiest race, but I’m really happy and grateful to M2 for the car this season,” Lindblad said.

Lindbla's Super Licence eligibility puts him firmly on Red Bull’s radar for an FP1 outing in Formula 1 in 2025, likely with Racing Bulls.
However, with his 18th birthday not until August, he may need an FIA exemption to drive an F1 car before then.
With Red Bull known for fast-tracking young talent, Lindblad’s title win could be the gateway to his first taste of F1 action sooner than expected.
