Huawei patents a 3D fingerprint sensor for a smartwatch

Huawei has recently patented a smartwatch featuring a 3D fingerprint sensor. This is according to a patent discovered by the folks at MySmartPrice. According to this patent, it suggests that Huawei has come up with a way to revolutionize how users interact with wearable devices.

Traditional fingerprint sensors used for security. However, this new technology is designed to support a range of gesture-based commands. The patent details how different fingers could be assigned specific actions, such as using the thumb to go back, the index finger to launch an app, or twisting fingers together on the display to adjust volume or screen brightness.
