Holland America Line adds cruises curated by The History Channel
The historically focused itineraries are designed to bring history to life for passengers.
Holland America Line is hoping to boost its appeal to history buffs through a new multi-year partnership with A+E’s The History Channel.
Curious travelers who want to journey through time during a cruise vacation can now book Holland America Line cruise itineraries and shore excursions that are curated with the TV brand that’s well known for its historical storytelling.

Through the first-of-its-kind collaboration, the cruise line wants to expand its own focus on authentic storytelling as it takes passengers on voyages to explore destinations that have played a part in historical moments or have a deep-rooted history.
Passengers will be able to cruise around the Mediterranean to visit the lands where ancient empires thrived, follow the routes of Vikings north, experience the Arctic’s wilderness and history of polar exploration, or even discover what it was like to strike gold in Alaska.

Holland America Line passengers are big on historic destinations
Holland America Line passengers rate learning about destinations and visiting historic sites among their most desired travel experiences. Now, history-seeking passengers will be able to more deeply explore and understand the significance of historic destinations through custom itineraries and shore excursions operated by Holland America Line and curated in partnership with The History Channel.
The historically focused cruise itineraries offer a range of cruise durations and a variety of destinations around the world for passengers to explore.

Some of the featured Europe itineraries include a 14-Day Arctic Journey & Northern Lights cruise, a 7-Day Mediterranean Marvels of Pompeii voyage and a 7-Day Norwegian Fjords with Hardangerfjord sailing. The curated itineraries offer passengers the opportunity to explore ancient ruins and legendary landmarks around the world while diving into the stories of the civilizations that shaped them.
Additional themed sailings will include the eastern Mediterranean with a focus on ancient empires; northern Europe and its Viking heritage; Arctic encounters and the region's history of polar exploration; and more. These cruises will be announced at a later date and marked with a “With HISTORY Channel” distinction on Holland America Line's website.
Exclusive shore excursions will help passengers delve further into history
Holland America Line offers thousands of shore excursions around the world, many of which focus on the history and culture of the destination. Passengers are able to not only learn about history, but to experience it through these thoughtfully-designed tours.
Through the partnership with The History Channel, passengers can experience dozens of immersive shore excursions such as Gold Panning & Underground Mine Exploration; Giza Pyramids, Sphinx & the Pyramid of Sakkara; Stavanger Old & New; and Viking Archaeology. Passengers on these expert-led tours will take a deep dive into the location's historical significance, visiting important sites that played a role in the background of the locale.

With activities for every pace and skill level, passengers can discover the rich cultural heritages and dramatic events that formed the places they visit on their historically-focused voyages.

Holland America Line’s itineraries and shore excursions created in partnership with The HISTORY Channel are now available for booking. Additional itineraries and shore excursions for 2025, 2026 and 2027 will continue to be released.
