Flogging Molly frontman Dave King is “battling a very serious health condition”, the band have confirmed in a statement.

The Celtic-punk outfit shared the news in a message on social media last night (February 5), saying that they would be cancelling their scheduled shows for this year as a result. They did not disclose specific details about King’s condition.

King, who is a founding member of Flogging Molly, performs in the group alongside his wife, violinist and singer Bridget Regan.

Addressing their “family, friends and fans”, the band wrote: “Our fearless leader, the inimitable Dave King, is currently battling a very serious health condition.

“Dave and Bridget ask everyone to respect their privacy at this time, we will share as we can. Any good thoughts or prayers you can send Dave’s way, he and we would appreciate it.”

The statement continued: “Unfortunately Flogging Molly will be unable to perform shows in 2025.

“With the Salty Dog Cruise 12 days away, the boat will sail as planned with 18 bands, and members of Flogging Molly, on board to celebrate the cruise, the community and our captain, Dave King. Thank you, Flogging Molly.”

They also instructed ticketholders for their cancelled headline dates after the cruise to contact their point of purchase for refund information. See the statement in the post above.

Flogging Molly had been set to hit the road in the US tour on February 24. This would have led up to their three-day ‘Shamrock Rebellion’ celebration in Las Vegas, Tempe and Los Angeles over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

King, who was born in Dublin, formed Flogging Molly in LA back in 1994. He had previously performed in the hard rock band Fastway with “Fast” Eddie Clarke (Motörhead) and Pete Way (UFO).

Flogging Molly’s seventh and latest studio album, ‘Anthem’, was released in 2022. The record was produced by the late Steve Albini, who had worked with the band early on in their career.
