Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ “The Chronicles of Narnia” books is moving forward fast with fan site NarniaWeb having snagged a copy of the casting call.
The site says UK children’s casting agencies and drama schools have received the notice with callbacks already underway.
Speficially the Netflix film production is seeking a boy and a girl to play characters that are 10 or 11 years old, but the description doesn’t specify any physical characteristics (eg. hair color).
The news has seemingly reinforced speculation that the film will be an adaptation of “The Magician’s Nephew” – the first story chronologically in the Narnia franchise, which involves the characters of 12-year-old Digory and 11-year-old Polly – those ages matching the range from casting call.
Netflix has yet to confirm what title will be adapted, or if the film is following the other rumored plan of combining elements of several books.
The casting director for the film is Nina Gold who has experience with the franchise, having worked on “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” back in 2010.
Filming on Gerwig’s The Chronicles of Narnia is slated to begin around June/July and run through the second half of next year. The movie will then be released on IMAX around Thanksgiving 2026, ahead of a Christmas release on Netflix.
