Burger King Menu adds new Whopper demanded by customers

The Whopper carries a heavy load for Burger King.

While McDonald's has nearly 20 $1 billion menu items, Burger King only has its signature sandwich. That has not stopped the chain from leveraging its biggest hit into places you would not expect it to go.

There are countless novelty Whoppers, the Whopper Melt line, and even the Impossible Whopper which replaces the beef with a plant-based alternative.

Restaurant Brands International (QSR) CEO Joshua Kobza celebrated the Whopper during his company's fourth-quarter earnings call.

"Recent menu initiatives, such as the Adams Family Menu, featuring Wednesday's Whopper, the Million Dollar Whopper campaign and the Melts platform have reinforced that guests crave innovation and high quality food at a great price," he said.

The CEO also promised more Whoppers in the future as he talked about the chain's plans for 2025.

"You'll also see us focus on the Whopper again. We had some very successful activations, things like the Million Dollar Whoppers where we had guest-created versions of the Whopper that really appealed to guests and I think puts the Whopper in the right place as a premium product. So you should expect to see more Whopper innovation in 2025," he added.

Burger King has offered dozens of different Whoppers over the years.

Burger King delivers the people's Whopper

Burger King has long used the slogan "Have it Your Way," but that' s not always a good to let customers design menu choices. In fact, any time a chain does it, you have to at least consider the famous Homer Simpson line from a season 5 "The Simpsons" episode.

"I’m a white male, age 18 to 49. Everyone listens to me, no matter how dumb my suggestions are," he said.

Homer then reaches into the cabinet and pulls out a can of “Nuts and Gum” sporting the slogan “Together at Last,”

That may be an extreme example, but giving the people what they want is not always a good idea, but Burger King has opted to hold true to its slogan with its latest Whopper.

"Last year, for the first time ever, Burger King encouraged Guests to create their own version of the Whopper through the Million Dollar Whopper Contest, which culminated with the launch of three new and delicious Guest-created Whopper sandwiches in restaurants nationwide. And now, BK fans are asking for more. That’s why starting March 6, Burger King is introducing The Steakhouse Bacon Whopper, the latest Whopper innovation inspired by guests’ requests," the chain shared in a press release.

The new Whopper was actually a combination that was submitted for the Million Dollar Whopper promotion. It was also heavily supported on social media despite not winning the contest.

The Steakhouse Bacon Whopper combines signature steakhouse items including A1 steak sauce, crispy onions, bacon, Swiss cheese, creamy peppercorn aioli, lettuce and tomato.

"In addition to bringing a new Whopper to menus, Burger King is also encouraging guests to test new ways to enjoy their favorite combo meal – by choosing premium same-sized side options at no additional cost. For the first time ever, in addition to classic French Fries, Onion Rings, and Have-sies, guests can request Chicken Fries, Mozzarella Fries or Churro Fries to accompany their favorite sandwich and soft drink to create their own personalized dream combo meal," the chain shared.

Burger King customers also have the option to support the Burger King Foundation by rounding up their order total to the nearest dollar when they dine at participating restaurants from March 3 – April 11.

"These generous donations will aid the BKF in its mission to further students’ education through scholarships, building on the more than $60 million that has been awarded to recipients across the U.S. and Canada since 2000," the company added.
