Watch Chappell Roan perform “Pink Pony Club” at the Grammys
Chappell’s performance was introduced by her friend and past tourmate Olivia Rodrigo.
One of the biggest stories of 2024 was the meteoric rise of Chappell Roan, and the latest stop on her path to stardom is the Grammys. She’s up for all four major categories (Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist), and she gave a performance of “Pink Pony Club,” after being introduced by her friend and past tourmate Olivia Rodrigo (with whom she shares producer Dan Nigro, who won Producer of the Year, Non-Classical this year). Olivia expressed how amazing it is to see the whole world catch on to Chappell’s music, and before she performed, the Grammys aired an interview with Chappell about her insane rise in popularity and how much her younger self would’ve needed a gay pop star like this to look up to.
She began her performance sitting on top of a giant pink pony, surrounded by dancers dressed as cowboy clowns. Like when she played the same song on SNL this past fall, she had the whole crowd singing along to the last chorus. Watch her performance below.
After performing, Chappell took home the award for Best New Artist. During her acceptance speech, she said, “I told myself if I ever won a Grammy, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists… Labels, we got you. But do you got us?”
