Paramount Animation has released the teaser trailer for “Smurfs,” the newest incarnation of the long-running franchise based on the characters and work of artist Peyo.
When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him.
With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.
The voice cast also includes Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, and Kurt Russell.
Rihanna was heavily involved, the star writing, producing and singing new original songs that help guide the film.
Chris Miller directs the film from a script by Pam Brady. Rihanna, Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith and Ryan Harris produce. “Smurfs” is set to hit cinemas on July 18th.
