Teaser Trailer: “M3GAN 2.0”

Universal Pictures has premiered the official teaser trailer for “M3GAN 2.0” which is headed to cinemas on June 27th.

Allison Williams (“Get Out”) and Violet McGraw (“The Haunting of Hill House”) will reprise their roles of Gemma and Cady respectively in the new film.

Screenwriter Akela Cooper, who penned the first, will return for the sequel which will be produced by horror masters James Wan and Jason Blum via the combined Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions companies.

Williams will also produce the sequel with New Zealand filmmaker Gerard Johnstone (“Housebound”) also back as director.

The story takes place two years after M3GAN, the prototype of an AI lifelike doll, went rogue and embarked on a murderous rampage before being subsequently destroyed.

Gemma (Williams) has since become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.I. Her Niece Cady (McGraw), now 14, has become a teenager and rebels against Gemma’s overprotective rules.

However, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno) – a killer infiltration spy.

As Amelia’s self-awareness increases, she becomes less interested in taking orders from humans. With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma seeks to resurrect M3GAN and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal.

The PG-13 first film generated $91 million globally from a $12 million budget, and went viral in its success.
