Surprise, Sidney! Matthew Lillard Returns in 'Scream 7'

This is not a drill, horror nerds! Deadline is reporting that Matthew Lillard, who played Stu Macher in Scream, is returning to the franchise in Paramount's Scream 7. Lillard just released an Instagram video in which he scribbles a cryptic callback to one of his most famous lines in the original film: "My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me." And with the slated release of the next iteration of the franchise being in 2026, it's safe to say that we're going to see Lillard on screen with Ghostface once again after 30 years. (Yes, it has been that long and yes, we are that old.) But wait, didn't Stu die in the original movie? We think so, right? I mean, Sidney dropped a TV on his head—and it wasn't like one of today's flatscreen TVs that weigh less than the remote that comes with it; I'm talking about one of those big box TVs with the domed glass screen that is easily two inches thick. So, yeah—boy died.
