SUPERMAN & LOIS Star Tyler Hoechlin is All in on James Gunn’s Vision For SUPERMAN
Just months after Superman & Lois wrapped its four-season run on The CW, fans are gearing up for a brand-new Man of Steel. James Gunn’s Superman is set to hit theaters in July 2025, bringing a fresh new take on the iconic hero. While some actors might feel bittersweet about passing the cape, Tyler Hoechlin, who played Clark Kent in Superman & Lois, is incredibly excited for David Corenswet’s upcoming portrayal.Speaking with ScreenRant at the Saturn Awards, Hoechlin shared his thoughts on Corenswet stepping into the role, expressing both enthusiasm and gratitude for his own time as Superman:“I'm excited because, in a weird way, I've always [been] looking forward to the experience I was going to have with this character. It originally was going to be two episodes that somehow turned into four, and then seven, and then eight years. “I've always been excited about whenever that day comes to pass the baton, and so I'm so looking forward to see what they're going to do with it. I think they're great. I'm [a] huge, huge Guardians [of the Galaxy] fan, so I can't wait to see what James has done with it. “David [Corenswet] sent me a really nice note before they started shooting. He's a very, very classy guy, so I wish him and Rachel and Nick and everybody there the best. And for the fans too! I just hope it's the best movie of the year.”Hoechlin’s Superman journey started with a couple of Supergirl episodes and kept expanding through Arrowverse crossovers like Elseworlds and Crisis on Infinite Earths until he finally took center stage in Superman & Lois. Though his time as the Last Son of Krypton has ended, he’s embracing the transition. It’s cool to see his excitement for Gunn’s vision and for Corenswet’s take on the hero. We’re all hoping that this turns out to be an incredible Superman movie. While there are some things that I’m not too sure about, I have faith that Gunn will deliver something awesome. Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned. “It's set in a world very different from ours and far removed from the DCEU. Heroes have been around for ages, and we'll see how it affected this world's history and has shaped the DCU."Superman will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
