According to the rumors, Samsung could name its upcoming tri-fold smartphone the Samsung Galaxy G Fold. While Samsung has dominated the foldable market with its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series, this will be the company’s first tri-fold smartphone, although the company wouldn’t be the first to the market with such a device.
Some of you might recall that in 2024, Huawei launched the Mate XT tri-fold smartphone.
However, unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which featured an outward-folding design, the Galaxy G Fold will take a different approach. Samsung’s version will have inward-folding displays. This offers better protection against scratches and damage when closed.
Reports indicate the Galaxy G Fold measures 9.96-inches wide and 6.54-inches tall. It is also expected to weigh around the same as the Huawei Mate XT. Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy G Fold alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, which are expected to debut later this year.
Samsung has not announced pricing details yet. However, given its complex folding mechanism and the additional foldable display, the Galaxy G Fold will likely cost significantly more than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is currently priced at $1,900. So it’s not hard to imagine the Galaxy G Fold could be priced over $2,000. Either way, take it with a grain of salt. Hopefully we’ll have more details to share in the coming months.
