Sainz ‘hair-raising’ confession leaves Williams boss stunned

Carlos Sainz has officially settled into life at Williams, and if first impressions are anything to go by, the Spaniard is already making waves—both on and off the track.

In a behind-the-scenes video shared by the team, Sainz was given a warm welcome at Grove, where he toured the factory, met his new colleagues, and even had a heart-to-heart with team boss James Vowles.

But instead of a conventional interview, the Williams boss took it upon himself to grill his new driver on a question that's surely plagued racing fans for years.

Mastering the Art of the Perfect Hair Day

“How is your hair always so good after a race? When I've been racing and take my crash helmet off – you know when your parents had a bowl, they put it on your head and then cut around it – that’s what my haircut looks like.

“Yours looks like this. So what am I doing wrong?” Vowles asked, laughing.

Sainz, clearly amused, wasted no time in diagnosing the issue. He first inquired about Vowles' hair-washing habits – just once a day, the Brit admitted.

The Spaniard nodded approvingly before delivering his wisdom.

“Okay, that’s not bad. Honestly, I don’t do anything,” he admitted, chuckling.

“I guess one of the genetical good things of Spanish people is we have good hair. My girlfriend that is Scottish always says it to me, how jealous she is.

“She sees me every day in the shower just doing one shampoo. But we can maybe work on that a bit, I’ll give you a few tricks that maybe I don’t give to everyone.”

From Hair Care to High-Speed Racing

Beyond sharing follicular wisdom, Sainz’s first days at Williams have been filled with getting to grips with his new environment.

The Spaniard, who tested with his new team in Abu Dhabi at the end of last year and last week in Barcelona, was spotted sitting in a Williams car, getting a feel for his new machinery, and engaging with the engineers.

With a fresh start at a new team, expectations are high, and Williams is clearly thrilled to have a proven race-winner in their ranks.
