Just ten days after the last campaign ended, Royal Jordanian has renewed its paid status match to the Silver Jay (Oneworld Ruby) tier for members of various hotel loyalty programs (read more here).
This time around, hotel loyalty members can not match to the Gold Sparrow (Oneworld Sapphire) tier but that option is still available to airline status holders of various programs.
You can access this offer on the Status Match website here.
There is a participation fee of US$49 to get your Accor ALL, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy, or World of Hyatt status matched to Royal Jordanian Silver Jay (Oneworld Ruby):
You pick whichever option is available to you, upload proof of status and then get to to the payment screen.
You will be prompted to take a picture of your government-issued ID with a verification app to make sure you meet the residency requirements for this campaign.
This app works with some kind of AI, and I was previously rejected for the Etihad Match because the NSW ID I used for Australia had expired. Oh well, not much to miss out on.
Eligible Hotel Tiers:
- Accor ALL: Platinum, Diamond & Limitless
- Hilton Honors: Diamond
- IHG One Rewards: Diamond
- Marriott Bonvoy: Platinum, Titanium & Ambassador
- World of Hyatt: Globalist
This campaign is limited as there will be an expiration date, which is not yet listed on the StatusMatch.com website. We’ll update you when it’s available.
Royal Club Elite Benefits Matrix:
The benefits of the Ruby tier are rather basic. If you fly Royal Jordanian frequently, you might be able to get more benefits out of it, including a bit higher baggage allowance.
Royal Club Extra Luggage Allowance:
Royal Club Oneworld Tier Matching:
Ruby is better than nothing, I guess, especially for $49, but of course, the sweet spot is Sapphire status.
Conclusion
The match from the hotel program can make sense if you don’t have status with Oneworld but have flights with them coming up in economy, as Sapphire (RJ Gold) grants you what essentially are business class level ground services such as business class check-in, extra luggage allowance, lounge access, and priority boarding.
The Silver Jay OW Ruby status isn’t worth that much. Alliance-wide, it provides very limited benefits, such as priority check-in and some preferred seating, depending on the airline. With RJ itself, there are a few more benefits, as outlined in the matrix above.
However, I would probably use another program to credit the flights. You can use one program for benefits and another for crediting purposes.
