NewsNation's Chris Stirewalt Named Political Editor of The Hill

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 27, 2025) - The Hill, the country’s definitive digital source for non-partisan political news and information, today named NewsNation’s Chris Stirewalt as Political Editor.  His arrival at The Hill comes as President Trump’s first 100 days in office get underway.

In this newly created role, Mr. Stirewalt will provide regular editorial guidance for The Hill, and write a weekly column and a political note offering fresh insights and in-depth analysis.  Mr. Stirewalt also will host events for The Hill, offering his perspective on various policy issues and leading panel discussions with key political leaders and decision-makers in Washington.  He will continue in his position as political editor of NewsNation.

“We are thrilled Chris will be joining The Hill,” said Cherie Grzech, President of News & Politics for The Hill and NewsNation. “His expansive knowledge of Washington, and signature wit and delivery will be an enormous asset to the newsroom.”

Mr. Stirewalt added, “I started work as a political columnist covering the 2004 presidential election. A great deal is different in both politics and the news business now. What hasn’t changed is that a great many Americans still are looking for straightforward, fair-minded analysis but too often find partisanship masquerading as punditry. I am thrilled to be part of the team at The Hill, where journalists are working hard every day to provide tough, fair, incisive coverage that opens Washington up to the citizens it is supposed to be serving."

The Hill is the top-drawing brand in Comscore’s Political News category, outpacing, CNN Politics, Axios, and Politico. The platform reaches over 34 million monthly unique visitors, up nearly 14% percent in November compared to 2023.

Mr. Stirewalt contributed to NewsNation’s special coverage of the 2024 presidential election, and on election night helped NewsNation become the first television network to project Donald Trump as the winner.  In March 2024, Mr. Stirewalt debuted as the anchor of NewsNation’s first Sunday public affairs program, The Hill Sunday.

Since its debut, ratings for The Hill Sunday, which is also carried by The CW Network, have grown by double-digits in both total viewers and among adults 25-54 according to Nielsen.

Mr. Stirewalt is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Previously, Stirewalt wrote a twice weekly column for The Dispatch and served as political editor of FOX News Channel.
