New Batman Game by Rocksteady Gets Release Date Window Update – Report

It was reported in 2024 that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League studio Rocksteady was working on a new Batman title. This was by Xbox Era’s “Shpeshal Nick” Baker who claimed Sony was attempting to lock it down as a PlayStation exclusive. While details are still unclear, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has corroborated at least half of those claims, stating a new Batman game is in the works.

What is the new Batman game by Rocksteady’s release date window?

In a lengthy report from Schreier on Bloomberg, he had new details on WB Games’ multiple studios. In his segment about Rocksteady, he discusses the tumultuous launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League which inevitably led to the game’s last content update implemented within the game’s first year. According to Schreier, it seems Rocksteady is now ready to go back to what has worked for them before: single-player Batman games. However, it won’t be any time soon.

“Now, Rocksteady is looking to return to Batman for a single-player game, but according to people familiar with the timeline, the new project is years away from landing,” says Schreier.

Of course, like any rumor, take this with a grain of salt. Schreier is an incredibly reliable source, and it is probably true Rocksteady is currently working on a new single-player Batman game. However, game development changes quite a bit, so it’s also possible this project never actually sees the light of day. We will know more once Rocksteady and WB Games formally reveals the alleged game.

Luckily for Rocksteady, this new Batman game wasn’t given to a studio outside of the WB Games umbrella. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not meet its sales expectations leading Warner Bros. Discovery to look into licensing its IP.

“There’s also a lot of interest among others in coming to take advantage of some of that IP for gaming, which we’re looking at,” Zaslav said. “We need to get bigger, and the IP that we own and the value that it has in the gaming space is something we’re looking to take advantage of.”
