‘Lost a generation of fans’ – Jerry Jones’ Cowboys decision brutally slammed by one of Dallas’ most famous players
Cowboys fans are still trying to figure out what is going on in Dallas. So is one of the franchise’s greatest players of all-time. GettyMichael Irvin is fed up with the Dallas Cowboys[/caption] “They’ve lost a generation of fans,” Michael Irvin said on his YouTube channel. “That’s 30 damn years. Forty years is a generation. “Right here, right now was critical mass. It was time to bring somebody in here that could shake things up and grab this last leg of Cowboys Nation.” The former Dallas great shredded the Cowboys for almost 20 minutes, focusing on Jones’ decision to hire Brian Schottenheimer as the team’s new head coach. Irvin acknowledged that he had recently been sick with the flu, so he didn’t have time to instantly weigh in on the move to replace Mike McCarthy with a journeyman offensive coordinator. But once the camera started rolling, Irvin couldn’t hold back. “Sick with the flu and then hit with doo-doo,” Irvin said. Long-frustrated Cowboys fans hailed Irvin for his transparency and honesty. The Hall of Famer won three Super Bowls with Dallas and spent his entire 12-year career with Jones’ team. Irvin caught 750 passes for 11,904 yards and 65 touchdowns as a pro, then was a regular voice on NFL Network for years. youtube@michaelirvinIrvin unloaded on Dallas owner Jerry Jones[/caption] GettyJones supported Mike McCarthy for years[/caption] GettyCowboys fans were stunned when Brian Schottenheimer got the top job[/caption] GettyIrvin made the Hall of Fame after a stellar Cowboys career[/caption] “You nailed it Playmaker!” one fan said. “You are saying what over 90% of Cowboys fans are feeling.” “And this is why Playmaker is my favorite all time NFL player,” a second fan wrote. “The anger and disappointment of a lost opportunity — I felt every piece of this.” “Nothing but RESPECT for The Playmaker from an EAGLES fan,” a third fan posted. “Speak to truth.” ” ‘Fired Up Michael Irvin’ is a national treasure!” a fourth fan commented. The Cowboys’ decision to hire Schottenheimer, who wasn’t a candidate for any other NFL head coaching jobs, was panned across the league. No one went in harder on Dallas than Irvin. “We lost an opportunity here,” Irvin said. “I don’t know what will happen with coach Schottenheimer and the Dallas Cowboys. “But Jerry’s a shrewd, shrewd businessman, and this opportunity, I’m shocked he did not see.” Jayden Daniels pushing Washington to the NFC Championship gave the Cowboys the longest drought in the conference. With NFC East-rival Philadelphia and Saquon Barkley playing the Commanders, Irvin was compelled to point out how far the Cowboys have fallen. “They’re in a position that we haven’t held in 30 f****** years,” Irvin said. “The longest drought by any NFC East team.” Follow talkSPORT NFL on Facebook Follow our talkSPORT NFL page on Facebook for the latest breaking NFL news, exclusive video interviews, and the biggest talking points from around the league.
