What If Dexter Had a Kid?

Ever wondered what would happen if Dexter had a kid? Well, writer-director Barry Jay might have been reading your mind. Like Father Like Son dives headfirst into the nature vs. nurture debate, asking just how much of our parents’ darkness we inherit—and what we choose to do with it.

Behind the Camera

Barry Jay doesn’t hold back. The kills in this movie? Brutal, inventive, and lightning fast. There’s one early on that had me clutching my seat, never seen anything quite like it. When the carnage kicks in, it hits hard, and before you know it, the blood’s flowing, the body count’s rising, and all hell is breaking loose.

The Experience

Sitting through Like Father Like Son, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was watching the origin story of some grim, brutal anti-hero. It’s got that dark, grounded vibe, something that would sit comfortably next to Unbreakable or Split. But what really caught me off guard is how it weaves in shades of Falling Down, that creeping sense of society pushing a man to his breaking point, the clash between personal demons and a system that feels rigged against him. It’s not just about the violence; it’s about the inevitable collision between chaos and control.

Final Thoughts

Does Like Father Like Son have something to say? Absolutely. It leaves you rattled, a little giddy, and stuck pondering whether those eerie end captions are fact or fiction. Well, after talking to Barry Jay himself, I can confirm they’re fact. And that, my friends, is just another reason to stay inside and lock your doors.
