Stephen Grove has been cleared of major injuries in the wake of his crash in the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, Grove Racing has confirmed.
The 57-year-old was taken to hospital after he was involved in a significant incident that saw his Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo make heavy contact with the wall and become airborne after colliding with Kenny Habul on the run into The Dipper.
Grove Racing initially stated that the Bronze-rated driver sustained “damage to his back” in the incident, but outlined in a further statement issued Thursday that he escaped serious injuries.
“Grove Racing is pleased to confirm that Stephen Grove is recovering well after his crash at the Bathurst 12 Hour this past weekend,” the team wrote.
“Stephen has been cleared of any major injuries and is in good spirits. The team thanks fans, medical staff, and everyone for their support during this time.
“Stephen’s health and safety are our top priority and we look forward to seeing him race again soon.”
