Great Grandpa‘s highly anticipated new album Patience, Moonbeam is out in March, and they recently began their tour supporting it, which stopped in NYC on Friday (1/31) for a show at Baby’s All Right. It’s their first tour in five years, and vocalist Al Menne said that a lot has changed since then, including him coming out as transgender, and that the band had adjusted the keys they perform some songs in to fit his changing voice.
In addition to songs off 2019’s great Four of Arrows, they previewed a few new songs from Patience, Moonbeam, including the folky, tender “Junior,” the mathy and ambitious “Doom,” and “Emma,” which hasn’t been released yet. It all sounded fantastic, and you can see Friday night’s setlist, and a couple of attendee-taken video clips below.
