CLEARWATER, FL – Shipbuilder Beneteau has selected Dream Yacht Worldwide (DYW), a leader in sea tourism and vacations aboard sailboats and catamarans, to introduce the brand new electric hybrid monohull “Island Cruising Concept” to its fleet in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) beginning this month.

When modernity and sustainability meet the joy of cruising

To make cruising more environmentally friendly without compromising optimal onboard comfort, Beneteau has designed and developed a new boat, the Island Cruising Concept, capable of operating on 100% electric mode for extended periods without any emissions. Dream Yacht customers will be the first to test this innovation in the Caribbean.

Approximately 30 to 50% of the boat’s energy needs are covered by solar power, thanks to large solar panels mounted on the roof, providing autonomy of more than 2.5 hours at 7 knots, with a software system ensuring efficient energy management. Backup propulsion is provided by the generator, offering autonomy of nearly 250 nautical miles at 7 knots.

Thanks to the Island Cruising Concept, sailors can now enjoy the freedom and autonomy offered by hybrid electric technology, as well as spacious living areas similar to those of a catamaran and comfortable accommodations for up to 8 people.

“We are proud that Beneteau has chosen Dream Yacht to introduce its new innovation, the new hybrid monohull Island Cruising Concept – a new revolution in the nautical industry,” shared Loïc Bonnet, President and Founder of Dream Yacht Worldwide. “Environmental preservation is one of our priorities, and this vote of confidence allows us to offer our clients even more sustainable and comfortable sailing.”

Comfortable onboard living spaces

Whether travelers are sailing or anchored, the comfort on board the Island Cruising Concept is further enhanced by a new hull design, called mono-maran, characterized by a monohull shape at the front that widens to mimic a catamaran shape at the back. This new design improves engine fuel efficiency.

The hull, without a keel, also allows access to more cruising areas and beaches thanks to a shallow draft of only 2.8ft.

The bright and airy living space offers a 360° view and features an outdoor kitchen, a dining table, and a comfortable lounging bench, as well as a cozy helm station. Foldable platforms at the rear and on each side further enhance the space and the sense of openness, while providing easy access to the water for swimming and water sports. Four comfortable cabins with en-suite bathrooms are also available on board, along with a crew cabin.

In addition, passengers may experience less rolling and vibration on board, and its quiet operation is reminiscent of sailing a yacht.

The Island Cruising Concept – currently available for charter in the British Virgin Islands

The Island Cruising Concept is available for charter starting February 2025 for cruises exploring the beautiful British Virgin Islands, at a very attractive price (from $2,733 per week). In line with their goal of enhancing the pleasure of sailing and meeting their clients’ needs, Dream Yacht and Beneteau will ask sailors testing this new boat prior to June 28th, 2025 to complete a survey at the end of the cruise, for which they will receive $1,100 cashback.
