Acura Meyer Shank Racing suffered a significant setback in the Rolex 24 at Daytona when Alex Palou stopped on track with suspension failure in hour five.

The three-time NTT IndyCar Series champion was at the wheel of the No. 93 Acura ARX-06 when he stopped on track at Turn 6 with video images showing damage to the car’s left-rear suspension.

While Palou’s stoppage caused the race’s second full course caution, the No. 93 car was recovered by the trackside safety team, set to be towed to the garage.

At the same corner, John Farano also spun the No. 8 Tower Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson into the wall, but has remained on the track.

BMW M Team RLL held a 1-2 as the caution came out, with the intervention occurring in the middle of a pitstop cycle that had seen the majority of the GTP field already come in.

AO Racing led LMP2 with the No. 99 Oreca in the hands of Dane Cameron, while Ford Multimatic Motorsports maintaining its position at the head of GTD Pro.

However, its pair of Ford Mustang GT3s have switched position as the No. 65 car of Dennis Olsen passed the No. 64 sister entry driven by Seb Priaulx into Turn 1 moments before the caution was called.

Forte Racing still led GTD, with Parker Kligerman at the wheel of the No. 78 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.
