Converse's Dressy Skate Loafers Means Shred-Ready Business

Even as controversial as they are, sneaker-loafers are everywhere right now. Even the Converse skaters bois got their own formal hybrids.

Converse Skateboarding's Japan imprint has created a new fancy loafer, officially known as the Bit Loafer. And the Converse Bit Loafer's agenda is clear: business up top and a skate-ready party on the bottom.

The Converse shoe's uppers resemble a classic loafer, even including gold bits across like the vamp. The shoe also comes wrapped up in durable suede, in case skaters want to take these elegant-looking skate shoes for a spin.

Underfoot, the Converse loafer offers up a textured rubber sole, marked with the familiar Converse bumper branding...and ready for gripping boards while practicing tricks.

Converse is undoubtedly part of the sneaker-loafer movement, where sneaker labels create their own formal shoes in line with their performance roots. Vans has its own skate loafer. Even New Balance and HOKA turned their dad shoes into sophisticated, techy steppers.

But Converse's Bit Loafer ain't the first formal shoe effort by the brand (it's probably not the last either). A few years back, the brand entered the post-sneaker society with its dressy All-Star Coupe loafer featuring traditional fringe flaps.

Since then, Converse has only upped its formal shoe game, creating even bigger — and I mean, big — loafers with the chunkiest soles.

And now, we have the Converse Bit Loafer to enjoy. Converse's Bit Loafer will land at Converse Japan on February 21, in two classic colorways: black and brown.
