Dr. Seuss’ final book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” is being turned into an animated musical feature with “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu to co-direct the project for Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.

The film, which Jill Culton is also co-directing, has already set a theatrical and IMAX release on March 17th 2028. Rob Lieber has penned the screenplay, while “La La Land” and “The Greatest Showman” duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are working on original songs for the project.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Bad Robot are backing the project with J.J. Abrams and Gregg Taylor among the producers. A voice cast has yet to be announced.

The book was published in 1990 by the famed children’s author who died the following year at age 87.

The story begins with the narrator relating the decision of the unnamed young male protagonist to leave town. They travel through several geometrical and polychromatic landscapes and places, spurred on by the thoughts of places he will visit and things he will discover.

The project is reportedly a priority for the studio and will mark Chu’s first post-“Wicked” feature. He also has a film adaptation of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in development at Amazon Studios.
