Compulsion Games revealed a release date of April 8, 2025 for South of Midnight, the action-adventure game set in a fantasy version of the American Deep South. The reveal came at the January 23, 2025 Xbox Developer Direct, alongside a new story trailer and an extended look at some of the game's mechanics. The presentation began by showing off some of the inspirations behind the game, and also gave a look at some of the various of spells, enemies, and weapons protagonist Hazel will encounter. We also got a look at some of the other locales featured in the game, like New Orleans-inspired streets and urban areas as well as caves and the previously seen bayou. Each of the areas is themed around the boss Hazel must defeat, and each has a unique musical theme that builds as the boss progresses through its phases. Finally, the developers announced the April 2025 South of Midnight release date.
