Shocking crash sees defending MotoGP world champion suffer multiple fractures
Jorge Martin’s MotoGP title defence got off to the worst possible start with a painful crash in pre-season testing in Malaysia. The Spaniard, who shocked the motorsport world with an unprecedented title in 2024, was on his new Aprilia when he suffered two incidents on the first day of testing at the Sepang International Circuit. The 27-year-old was taken to the circuit’s medical centre but then sent to the Aurelius Hospital nearby. There he was diagnosed with a right hand fracture and multiple fractures in his left foot and will spend the night in hospital before flying back to Europe for surgery. Martin’s face even hit the ground and his visor came off, but thankfully suffered no head trauma as he was cleared by an MRI and CT scan.
