The New Orleans Pelicans traded Daniel Theis to the Thunder in exchange for draft compensation, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Wednesday.
Theis, 32, is averaging 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds across 38 games with the Pelicans this season.
The eight-year veteran has also spent time with the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Clippers.
Now, Theis heads to a Thunder team which sits first in the Western Conference at 39-9 despite a long-term injury to star big man Chet Holmgren. Off-season pickup Isaiah Hartenstein, meanwhile, has only played in 28 games as he’s dealt with multiple ailments.
The move drops the Pelicans below the luxury-tax line, while their exact return was unclear.
