Nvidia faces a harsh reality ahead, market strategist says

Nvidia  (NVDA)  just hit a $3.35 trillion market cap, closing in on Microsoft’s  (MSFT)  crown as the world’s most valuable company. Brett Ewing, chief market strategist at First Franklin Financial Services, joined TheStreet to explain why he thinks Nvidia may never take the top spot, and what could stand in its way.

REBECCA MEZISTRANO: NVIDIA's market cap rose to over $3 trillion, only $50 billion away from Microsoft, the world's most valuable company. So do you think NVIDIA has what it takes to cross Microsoft?

BRETT EWING: That's an interesting question I believe that in the longer term, my bet would be on Microsoft. I think NVIDIA is going to have incredible amount of competition, which they haven't really had over the last three years. But as we move further into this AI economic boom that we're going through, I believe that their competition is going to be very stiff and they're going to have less of a platform that they do now.
