New “X-Men” Rumor Has Denzel As Magneto?

“X-Men” casting rumors have continued to swirl in recent weeks. At last report Julia Butters (“The Fabelmans”) is being eyed for Kitty Pride, Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”) for Jean Grey, Harris Dickinson (“Babygirl”) for Cyclops, Hunter Schafer (“Euphoria”) as Mystique, and Tom Glynn-Carney (“House of the Dragon”) for an unknown role. All have been rumors so far.

More interesting has been the rumored villains. It began the other day when MyTimeToShineH indicated that Javier Bardem is being considered for the role of villain Mister Sinister/Nathaniel Essex. Bardem reportedly came close to playing Galactus in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” but that didn’t work out, but Mr. Sinister is tipped to be in several films.

A new rumor today hails from Jeff Sneider during an appearance on “The Hot Mic”. As we know, Denzel Washington has a role in Ryan Coogler’s third “Black Panther” film but it’s not clear what that role might be.

The report today implies that Washington might appear in not just “Black Panther 3” but the “X-Men” reboot as a classic “X-Men” villain character – host John Rocha jumping to the obvious conclusion Washington could be playing Magneto in both films.

Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender have portrayed Magneto on screen. McKellen was 61 when he played the role in 2000’s “X-Men,” whereas Washington is currently 70 and has previously suggested he only has a few more roles left in him.

The actor can next be seen in Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest” which is set for a Summer 2025 release and is still slated to play Hannibal the Conqueror for director Antoine Fuqua.
