My assistant manager doesn’t work well with the team [closed]
I’m a District Manager for a small chain, and one of the stores I manage is having an issue with its assistant manager. On paper, the assistant manager does the job well, but when it comes to employee relations they slack. I overheard from staff at that store how the team doesn’t like the assistant manager, who tends to be rude and micromanage the team. When I try to talk to the team no one wants to get specific about certain situations and say “its fine”, but I can tell the team is frustrated. This is my lowest performing store and the assistant manager does pick up a lot of slack, but i know individually they can all do the job. I'm not sure what to do, since it seems like the entire situation is personal. I do plan on talking to my assistant manager about his professionalism and his feelings about certain team members. But how do i get the team to work well together when they don’t like their leader. We keep a short staff - its a team of 7 including the assistant manager.
