Marvel producer Nate Moore debunks the T’Challa recast rumors that have been doing the rounds, well kinda. Recently some rumors around Black Panther 3 have suggested Marvel is recasting T’Challa. Though, there always was some confusion whether this was an alt-T’Challa or a grown up Toussaint.

Well in a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel’s Nate Moore says the rumors can’t be true. Namely because they have not yet started exploring what the story is going to be with director Ryan Coogler. Moore refuses to comment one way or another on where they might go one day, but he says talks with Coogler about part 3 have yet to begin.

“The truth is, there’s no truth to those rumors. Never say never to anything, we haven’t really had a lot of creative conversations with Ryan Coogler yet, because he’s finishing his film Sinners, which comes out this year,” Moore said. “We’ll get into it later this year, but everything you read online is not true, if for no other reason than we just haven’t started [working on it].”

Moore also teased how the events of Captain America: Brave New World may influence Black Panther 3.

“I’m sure Wakanda will have an opinion about the arrival of Adamantium. And I’m sure Wakanda had an opinion on Sam Wilson as Captain America,” he said. “Clearly, they seem to support him, as they’ve given him some technology to help him out. But Wakanda isn’t in the best graces with the U.S. government, so there’s a possibility for conflict in a lot of different ways. I think Wakanda, to me, gets to play in the same political thriller sandbox as Captain America because it does deal with globalization and global politics, so anything is possible.”

In a separate interview with EW, Moore added that for now they don’t know what path Black Panther 3 will take. However, he did refuse to rule anything out at this stage.

“It is, honestly, so early,” Moore tells Entertainment Weekly in an interview pegged to the release of Captain America: Brave New World. “We’ve had a couple of conversations with Ryan Coogler, our filmmaker who’s coming back, but he’s finishing up his film.”

“We are still figuring out again exactly what [the next] Avengers is going to be, so we haven’t had any real story conversations,” Moore continues. “I know there’s been a lot of chatter online about casting and villains. None of that’s true. We just haven’t gotten there yet, to be honest, but I am very excited to start those conversations hopefully this year.”

“We don’t know what the story is, so I couldn’t tell you whether or not we’re open to recasting. It certainly wasn’t our instinct for Wakanda Forever. I’ll never say never to anything, but it’s too early to talk about any of that stuff. We have to figure out what the story’s going to be.”
