Konami announced it is bringing one of its critically acclaimed Game Boy Advance games to PS4 and PS5. Gamers can expect to revisit the fan-favorite retro style ninja platformer on PlayStation platforms next month.
Konami brings GBA classic Ninja Five-O to PS4 & PS5
Originally released in 2003, the GBA classic Ninja Five-O comes to PS4 and PS5 on February 25. Players interested can preorder the game for $24.99 on the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus subscribers can save 15% when they preorder.
“Harness the full power of Ninjutsu as Joe Osugi, a detective in Zipangu city determined to rid the streets of a vicious terrorist organization influenced by mythical masks,” reads the game’s official description. “Players can utilize a wide array of sword strikes, shuriken throws, and grappling-hook attack combinations to stop train hijackings, bank robberies, and more.”
There are several new features added to help modernize Konami’s Ninja Five-O. The Time Trial Mode will test players’ skills in completing already cleared stages; like any time trial mode, it tasks players with finishing a stage within the targeted time frame. Accessibility features like save states, and a rewind feature to give players a chance to complete some of the game’s tougher stages without having to restart.
When Konami launched Ninja Five-O in 2003, it received favorable reviews across the board. Specifically, according to review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an 82 or around an 8/10 on average.
Ninja Five-O is not the only GBA game Konami is bringing back from the dead. It recently announced the release date of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, which releases on February 27, 2025. This brings several of the classic Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and GBA titles based on the popular card game to modern platforms. However, this collection is currently only coming to Nintendo Switch, and PC, unlike Ninja Five-O which is coming to PlayStation platforms, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
