Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate Television, in collaboration with Wonder Project, Kingdom Story Company, and Nomadic Pictures, are set to bring one of the most legendary biblical stories to the screen with House of David. The highly anticipated series chronicles the rise of David, from an overlooked shepherd boy to the most revered king of Israel, as he navigates love, loss, and political turmoil within the court of his predecessor, King Saul.
The series follows King Saul, whose unchecked pride leads to his downfall. As his grip on power weakens, the prophet Samuel, following divine direction, anoints David, an unlikely teenage outcast, as the new chosen king. As one ruler falls, another must rise—setting the stage for an epic struggle of faith, fate, and ambition. House of David will explore the intense drama and political intrigue of ancient Israel, depicting David’s journey to kingship amid the threats of violence, betrayal, and divine purpose.
After an extensive four-month international search, newcomer Michael Iskander has been cast as David, fresh off his role in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Kimberly Akimbo. He is joined by an impressive lineup of actors, including Ali Suliman (Jack Ryan, Arthur the King) as King Saul and Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons, Man of Steel) as Queen Ahinoam, Saul’s trusted wife.

The supporting cast includes Stephen Lang (Avatar franchise, Don’t Breathe) as the prophet Samuel, Martyn Ford (Mortal Kombat 2, The Sandman) as the fearsome giant Goliath, and Indy Lewis (Industry, King and Conqueror) and Yali Topol Margalith (Tattooist of Auschwitz, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) as Saul’s daughters, Mychal and Mirab. Additionally, Ethan Kai (The Turkish Detective, Carnival Row 2) portrays Saul’s son and heir, Jonathan, while Sam Otto (Snowpiercer, The State) takes on the role of Eshbaal, the irreverent middle child.
The ensemble also features Oded Fehr (Star Trek, La Cocina) as Abner, Saul’s advisor; Louis Ferreira (Shogun, Breaking Bad) as Jesse, David’s father; and Davood Ghadami (Eastenders, The Chelsea Detective) as Eliab, David’s eldest brother. Ashraf Barhom (Tyrant, The Last Planet) will play the enigmatic Edomite Doeg, while Alexander Uloom (Sari and Amira, Heera) brings to life King Achish.
House of David is based on an idea by Jon Erwin (Jesus Revolution) and is directed and written by Erwin and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels). The series also boasts a team of acclaimed directors, including Alexandra La Roche and Michael Nankin. The executive production team includes Jon Erwin, Jon Gunn, Jonathan Lloyd Walker, Justin Rosenblatt, Chad Oakes, and Mike Frislev, ensuring a high-caliber production filled with compelling storytelling and breathtaking visuals.
One of the most exciting aspects of this project is the involvement of The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins, who serves as a shareholder and special advisor to Wonder Project. His experience in bringing biblical narratives to the screen adds an extra layer of authenticity and emotional depth to the series.
With a powerhouse creative team, a dynamic ensemble cast, and the backing of major production studios, House of David promises to be an unforgettable depiction of one of history’s most famous biblical figures. As audiences eagerly await its premiere, the series is poised to deliver a rich and immersive experience, exploring themes of faith, leadership, and destiny.
