South Korean site MTN News recently reported publisher NCSoft canceled several projects currently known as H, J, and Pantera. While the original story did not mention the Horizon MMO specifically, it was reported that Project H was the unannounced title. However, MTN News reporter Seo Jeong-geun recently stated Project H is not related to Horizon after all.

The reportedly canceled Project H has nothing to do with Horizon

The confirmation comes from a post on Korean gaming community site Ruliweb. A user contacted the reporter to clarify if Project H was the NCSoft Horizon MMO.

“The ‘H’ that I mentioned has nothing to do with Horizon,” says JeongKeun in the translated email.

The only details known of Project H that were stated in the original report is that the development team was made up of former Entryv employees. However, the genre of the game, and the size of the development team were not known. However, it is reported that some developers from the project are leaving NCSoft. Those who did not depart the company would be moved to different projects.

Sony Interactive Entertainment and NCSoft announced a partnership back in 2023. While it has not been confirmed, signs point to the Korean company developing the Horizon MMO.

“This partnership with SIE is the beginning of our efforts to build various synergies together, utilizing both companies’ core competencies, technological capabilities, and expertise,” said Taekjin Kim, President and CEO at NCSOFT at the time of the partnership announcement. He added, “We will deliver a new and enjoyable experience to our audience across and beyond genres and regions.”

While the Horizon MMO seems to be safe thus far, it isn’t surprising people thought it was canceled. Sony has recently shuttered live service projects by Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. Industry insider Jeff Grubb reported that the company is “going around to every studio and they’re reassessing every single project.”
