Fed inflation gauge shows early tariff impact
Tariff-related inflation, which Fed Chairman Powell has said could be transitory, is finding its way into the slowing U.S. economy.
The Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge ticked higher last month, suggesting that tariff price increases are starting to work their way into the world's biggest economy.
The Bureau of Economic Analysis's PCE Price Index report for February, released Friday, showed core prices rising at an annual rate of 2.8%, faster than the January reading and Wall Street's consensus forecast of 2.7%.
