Marvel Studios has confirmed that no artificial intelligence was used in the creation of several new posters for their “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” film, which were posted online earlier today.
The one-sheets arrive in the wake of the film’s first trailer that hit early this morning and so far seem to have been met with a variety of responses.
The posters also drew reaction – some loving the aesthetic with others questioning whether or not AI was used – especially one involving a swarm of Fantastic Four fans holding signs and flags.
Close inspection of the one-sheets, though, doesn’t appear to show any of the usual A.I. artifacts (face smudges, merged fingers, etc.), but does show repeated elements like multiple versions of the same faces in the crowd.
A spokesperson for Marvel then told TheWrap: “AI was not used in the creation of these posters.”
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, the film introduces Marvel’s First Family – Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) – as they face their most daunting challenge yet.
Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
The film’s cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich and Natasha Lyonne. Matt Shakman directs from a script by Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer, Josh Friedman, Cameron Squires, Eric Pearson and Peter Cameron.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” opens in U.S. cinemas on July 25th.
