D4VD has shared details of a new album called ‘Withered’. Check out the trailer for the upcoming release below.

Announced today (February 5), the record will mark the long-awaited debut album from the viral sensation, and comes on the heels of his two massive tracks ‘Romantic Homicide’ and ‘Here With Me’ – which each have over a billion streams.

Set for release on April 25 via Darkroom/Interscope, ‘Withered’ comes on the heels of the two EPs that first put the 19-year-old on the map: ‘Petals To Thorns’ and ‘The Lost Petals’.

According to a new press release, the debut LP is an “amalgamation of disparate influences shaped into one visceral whole”, and captures the same charm that his earlier releases had, along with a new sense of direction.

“The record takes the listener through the natural evolution and lifespan of the rose, an omnipresent visual in d4vd’s creative output thus far, and is intended to be listened to sequentially like chapters in a book as the demise of a relationship unfolds,” it read.

“It is an album crackling with love found, love lost, love created, and love destroyed through every chorus and every melodic line.”

The forthcoming debut album will be one of D4VD’s first releases since he dropped the brooding ‘Remember Me’ last November as his contribution to the Arcane soundtrack.

He also collaborated with 21 Savage on ‘Call Me Revenge’ for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and told NME: “I love it because music and video games have been together for so long.I love video game soundtracks, the iconic sounds, the memes that come out of it too.”

Before then, the viral star was NME’s first artist on The Cover – and the first cover star of the revived and rejuvenated print magazine.

As part of the interview, the artist recalled how he taught himself to understand music and used BandLab technology to craft his signature sound. “I didn’t know how to build instrumentals, but I knew how to use my voice so I used that to my advantage,” he recalled.

“I would verbalise a guitar sound and then I could make it sound like a guitar. The drums I made with pencil taps on the wall. There’s not one person that feels like they can’t express themselves through music, because it’s a universal language.”
