Will Ferrell and Zac Efron will star in an untitled comedy that Nicholas Stoller is writing and directing for Amazon MGM Studios.

Efron plays a young convict just released from prison who takes a reality TV courtroom hostage, blaming the megalomaniac TV judge (Ferrell) for a past ruling that the convict feels ruined his life. Stoler, Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alex Brown are producing. [Source: THR]

Matchbox
“Ant-Man” actor Corey Stoll has joined the cast of “Matchbox” at Apple Original Films. Stoll will play an undisclosed character in the film inspired by Mattel’s toy vehicle line of the same name. Sam Hargrave (“Extraction”) directs.

The “action-packed, globetrotting adventure follows a group of childhood friends who must work together to stop an impending worldwide disaster and rediscover their friendship along the way. James Norton, Paddy Considine and Pip Torrens will join Cosmo Jarvis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins in the Guy Ritchie written and directed feature “Wife & Dog” at Black Bear. The series is set in the back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy. [Source: THR]

Star City
Rhys Ifans (“The Amazing Spider-Man,” “House of the Dragon”) has been cast in the Apple TV+ drama series “Star City,” a spin-off of the acclaimed sci-fi series “For All Mankind”.

The propulsive paranoid thriller series will tell the story the alternative history of the space race, just like “For All Mankind,” but this time from the Soviet Union’s perspective. Ifans will star as the Chief Designer and driving force behind the Soviet Space program. [Source: Variety]
