It’s no secret that Carnival cruise passengers love the burgers served on board by Guy’s Burger Joint.

Developed in partnership with Food Network personality and restaurateur Guy Fieri, this poolside casual dining spot for roadside-style burgers and hand-cut fries has been a huge success for the cruise line.

Although passengers can choose from a variety of casual dining venues on Carnival cruise ships, with options ranging from pizza and tacos to deli sandwiches and an entire buffet of dishes, burgers from Guy’s Burger Joint are enjoyed by more Carnival cruisers than any other lunch food.

But whether you enjoy your burgers at sea or on land, you may be surprised to learn that there’s one food that’s consumed way more often on most Carnival cruises — especially summer sailings.

As the cruise line kicks off its summer cruise season with plans to sail nearly two million passengers to nearly 100 destinations on board its 29 ships, Carnival has revealed some statistics on the food and beverages its passengers enjoy most during the summer.

And the numbers may surprise you.

Carnival cruisers eat way more ice cream than burgers

In a new infographic on its summer travel season, Carnival Cruise Line shared that over the summer, Guy’s Burger Joint will serve 2.8 million burgers fleetwide. The cruise line also expects to serve 2.4 million slices of pizza.

But according to the cruise line, passengers will eat far more ice cream than burgers and pizza combined.

This summer, Carnival passengers will enjoy 13 million servings of ice cream during their cruises.

Why is that number so much bigger? Well, that’s likely because cruisers may eat one burger per day but enjoy multiple ice cream cones or multiple servings of ice cream in one cone or dish.

The soft-serve ice cream station is typically a busy spot on any cruise ship, especially during warm-weather sailings. And it’s not just kids who love this onboard treat. Soft serve ice cream is beloved by people of all ages (myself included), and many swear that it tastes better during a vacation at sea.

In my opinion as a cruiser with a sweet tooth, a simple soft-serve ice cream cone is a more satisfying cruise dessert than many of the desserts served in the main dining room on board most cruise lines' ships.

Carnival cruisers are big on soda and beer, too

Carnival’s summer travel season infographic also reveals that soda and beer are the most-served beverages on Carnival cruise ships during the summer.

Over the next three months, Carnival’s onboard restaurants and bars will pour 6.5 million sodas, 4.4 million beers, and 1.3 million glasses of wine fleetwide.

Many vacationers will raise a glass on Carnival cruise ships over Memorial Day weekend as the cruise line kicks off the summer travel season by embarking 23 cruises from 10 U.S. homeports.

Carnival ships sailing from the U.S. will make more than 1,000 stops in cruise destinations across nearly 15 countries this summer.
